Learn about how we partner with poets and publishers on Poesie.
Part of our mission as an organization is to help pay poets and publishing houses, so we share a portion of all our revenue with the contemporary poets we work with.
Here's how it works:
We carve out 15% of subscription revenue every period to share with participating poets and publishing houses.
We allocate this revenue to our partners based on viewership of their poems on the app.
To make sure poets get paid, we pay a $100/poet advance when adding new selections to our library.
(These numbers may change in the future, but as of April 2021 they are the standard contract we've offered to all partners.)
Are you a poet or publishing house that is interested in sharing your poetry on our app? We'd love to hear from you! Please send us an e-mail: email@example.com.
Here are some of the great independent publishers we've worked with to bring contemporary poetry to our readers:
Bloodaxe Books: Bloodaxe Books has revolutionised poetry publishing in Britain over four decades. Internationally renowned for quality in literature and excellence in book design, our authors and books have won virtually every major literary award given to poetry, from the T.S. Eliot Prize and Pulitzer to the Nobel Prize.
New Directions: New Directions was founded in 1936, when James Laughlin (1914–1997), then a twenty-two-year-old Harvard sophomore, issued the first of the New Directions anthologies. “I asked Ezra Pound for ‘career advice,’” Laughlin recalled. “He had been seeing my poems for months and had ruled them hopeless. He urged me to finish Harvard and then do ‘something’ useful.”
